Whether directing operations on the ground or flying the friendly skies, our 60-credit hour Aviation Operations Technology degree program can take you to the next level quickly. We also have dual enrollment opportunities for area high school students!
Program Admission
The Flight Dispatcher and Aviation Administrator concentrations follow Southwest’s general admissions policy. Apply for admission and choose Aviation Operations Technology as your major.
If you select the Professional Pilot Concentration, you must meet the following additional admission requirements:
- Be admitted full-time at Southwest as a degree-seeking student,
- Possess a private pilot license,
and - Have a Federal Aviation Administration medical certificate.
Tuition and Fees
In addition to Southwest’s regular tuition and fees, those students who select the Professional Pilot Concentration will be subject to additional fees associated with flight training. Eligible students may apply financial assistance through our Southwest Foundation.

Professional Pilot
- Airline Pilots - $50,000 - $400,000
- Co-pilots - $36,283 - $106,796
- Flight Engineers - $45,283 - $112,796
- Flight Instructors - $30,000 - $107,000
Flight Dispatcher
Career paths include Flight dispatcher for commercial airlines, private airlines,
and freight carriers. Annual salaries range from $36,000 to $127,000.
Aviation Administration
Career paths include crew scheduler, flight coordinator, aviation manager, airport
management, air cargo operations and flight operations management. Annual salaries
range from $35,390 to $56,700.
