Southwest Tennessee Community College is pleased to announce the hiring of Jacqueline Faulkner as Vice President of Student Affairs. Faulkner has contributed over 20 years to the field of higher education. A native of Senatobia, Mississippi, she comes to Southwest from Arkansas State University-Newport where she served as the Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs providing visionary leadership and strategic direction to the Division of Student Affairs, including the areas of Admissions, Registrar, Recruitment, Financial Aid, Student Activities, Disability Services, Enrollment Management, Orientation, Academic Support, Testing, Retention Services, Career Coaches, Career Pathways, Judicial Affairs, and Student Development.

"I am very honored to join the Southwest Tennessee Community College family. The opportunity to truly make a difference in the lives of students and subsequently transform the Shelby County and surrounding Mid-South region through higher education is what most excites me about my new role as Vice President of Student Affairs," Faulkner stated.
Faulkner earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/Education from Jackson State University and a Master of Science degree in Leadership and Policy Studies – with a concentration in Higher Education and completed post-graduate coursework toward a Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Administration; both from The University of Memphis. Her past experience and breadth of knowledge and expertise in student affairs, student success, retention, and academic support initiatives will help achieve the strategic priorities of Southwest to build a stronger partnership with the business and industry communities, develop high-demand, sustainable programs consistent with community needs, and acquire financial support from sources other than the state.
"Some of my primary goals are to improve resources, streamline processes and procedures, and promote improved service delivery within our college to make college completion a reality for more students and to better support students throughout the student life cycle, from application through graduation. Having now met with several Southwest faculty, staff, and students who are very passionate about the quality of the student experience, I am eager to collaborate with others in creating an academic community where all students can thrive and succeed," said Faulkner.
