Thirteen Southwest Tennessee Community College Student-Athletes Named NJCAA All-Academic

(Memphis, Tenn.) – For the second consecutive year, thirteen Southwest Tennessee Community College student-athletes were honored as the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Academic for their work in the classroom. Sara Duke and Taylor Moak from the women’s soccer team and Ashton Mauldin and Madison Norris from the softball team earned first team recognition for achieving a 4.0 grade point average for the 2020-21 academic year.
Second team selections (3.80-3.99 GPA) were Nick Vaccaro from baseball, Lara Walsh from women’s soccer and Breundria Ward from women’s basketball. Named to the third team (3.60-3.79 GPA) were Gaylen Rutedge, Dawson Simmons, and Tristian Swift from baseball, Kallen Gresko from women’s soccer and Makayla Ables and Mikayla Savage from softball.
Maudlin received first team recognition in both her freshmen and sophomore years, earning a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average for her two years at Southwest. Other repeat recipients were Norris (second team as a freshman) and Moak (third team as a freshman.)
In addition, the women’s soccer team was named one of the NJCAA’s Academic Teams of the Year with a 3.19 team GPA.
