Twenty-Six Saluqi Student-Athletes Receive TCCAA’s L. Quentin Lane Award

(Memphis, Tenn.) - Twenty-six Southwest student-athletes received the TCCAA’s L. Quentin Lane Award for Academic Achievement for their work in the classroom during the 2022-2023 academic year. To qualify for the award, they needed to achieve a 3.0 grade point average with a minimum of 24 (college level) hours for the fall and spring semesters with a (part-time) exception made for graduating sophomores. The Saluqis’ baseball team led with twelve honorees, followed by softball with seven, women’s soccer with three, women’s basketball with two and men’s basketball with two.
Three Saluqis were ‘Diamond Team’ recipients for earning a 4.0 GPA – Brady Holloway and Connor Brinkley from the baseball team and Mariah Morgan from the softball team.
Thirteen were named to the ‘First Team’ (3.50-3.99 GPA) – Price Watson, Tyler Harrington, Tyler Schrampf, BJ Banyon, Copeland Bradford, Wesley Culley, and Christian Robb from baseball, Cailey Robbins, Lauren Pettie, Maddyx McNatt, and Ashley Aldridge from softball, Trinity Taylor from women’s basketball, and Lauren Hebert from women’s soccer.
Ten were named to the ‘Second Team’ (3.00-3.49 GPA) – Blake Rowe, CJ Thomas, and Bryce Turner from baseball, Shelbe Sisk and Maleyia Prather from softball, Will Farris and Kamrin Jones from men’s basketball, Juli Gross and Evelyn Ozment from women’s soccer, and Jernesha Clark from women’s basketball.
