Students and Grow Saluqi Plant Future Harvest to Benefit Everbloom Farmacy
Students from the Science Club and the Anatomy and Physiology service-learning course
volunteered their time Feb. 7 to plant seeds in collaboration with Grow SALUQI at
the Union Avenue Campus greenhouse and planter. The students started over 300 seeds
such as collards, lettuces, cilantro, eggplant, basil, cabbage, and others, in the
Union Planter located between Buildings A and B.
Union Planter is a Free Garden open to anyone on campus to pick and enjoy. This harvest
will support Everbloom Farmacy, a non-profit in Memphis that aims to support an independent,
sustainable food production system in vulnerable communities through free seedling
distribution and community learning.
With the support of the Science Club and the Anatomy and Physiology service-learning course, they are helping Grow SALUQI support the college's mission to create opportunities for enrichment and personal growth for those affected by food insecurity.
