Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship (TELS)
Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarships (TELS) are offered by the state of Tennessee. It is required that you complete a FAFSA to be awarded this scholarship. Final certification made by Southwest is required to receive funds once all paperwork has been submitted, so start early!
General Information
The Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation is responsible for coordinating the TELS program and has final authority regarding all rules and regulations pertaining to this program. All requirements for eligibility and information for renewal are available to parents and students at Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation.
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the application used to apply for all Tennessee Education Lottery scholarship programs. The FAFSA may be completed online at the FAFSA on the Web-Federal Student Aid website. Southwest must be listed as a college choice on your FAFSA application in order for the information to be sent to us from the Federal Processor.
Getting Started
I am a:
A new student has never attended any college, who have earned or will earn prior to enrollment either a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED or HiSet). Includes students who enroll in the fall term who attended college for the first time in the prior summer term. Also includes students who enter with advanced standing-college credits earned before graduation from high school (dual enrollment).
A transfer student is a student who has attended another college or university and is seeking a degree at Southwest Tennessee Community College.
A continuing student is a student who has been enrolled at Southwest and will continue enrollment at Southwest.
