President Tracy D. Hall welcomes students to fall semester
By Dr. Tracy D. Hall
Greetings, Saluqis!
Welcome to the start of a new and reimagined academic year! Or as I like to always say during this time: Happy New Year!
For several months, we have worked diligently to make sure that the business of the College continues despite our circumstances. We have refused to allow Covid-19 to halt the incredible student success gains we have made over the past few years. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have never stopped serving students. Many of you pivoted with grace and determination to online teaching, learning and student support this year. You faced the pandemic head on with grit and tenacity.
That same drive and energy will be needed this semester as we begin the most unusual fall ever! For the first time in history, most of instruction, student support services and campus operations will be online. Our interactions will be primarily virtual, facilitated by technology such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, PAWS, email, and telephone. Without a doubt, in many ways, COVID-19 has changed how we do business. It has not, however, changed our why--our mission, which is to provide the residents of Shelby and Fayette counties and the surrounding Mid-South region with a high-quality and affordable postsecondary education that prepares them for associate degrees, future educational opportunities and successful employment.
We are here with you and for you. Your hopes and dreams have never been more relevant. And the future needs you now more than ever. Have a great year!
Be well,
DR. TRACY D. HALL
President
