By Daphne J. Thomas
Rooms 115 and 202 in Academic Building A on the Macon Cove Campus and 125 in the Allied Health Building on the Union Avenue Campus have been sanitized following a covid-19 positive self-report and will REOPEN tomorrow, Wednesday, September 23 for classes and normal operations. All students and faculty are to report for regularly scheduled class sessions.
The rooms were identified as visited by an individual who submitted a report of a positive covid-19 test. The Shelby County Health Department has recommended only closing the areas identified as visited by individuals who self-reported. Other areas of the building will remain open for operations while the College performs sanitation in the affected area in accordance with Back to Campus Plan guidelines and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention standards. Southwest is performing contact tracing and notifying individuals who may have been in contact with the individual who tested positive for covid-19.
All Southwest students, employees and visitors who test positive for COVID-19 are encouraged to self-report online on the coronavirus section of the Southwest website. The form only takes a few minutes
to complete and all information will be kept strictly confidential.
Please review the College's infectious disease policy and stay tuned for updates via email and on the College’s coronavirus website at
