Southwest Hosts 2013 Community Expo
In an effort to increase public awareness and enhance its role as the "Community's College," Southwest Tennessee Community College is hosting its 2013 Community Expo. The event will be held on August 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gill Center located at 3833 Mountain Terrace. Southwest is a multicultural, public open-access college whose mission is to anticipate and respond to the educational needs of the Mid-South community.
This is a family affair and the local community is invited to participate; middle school, high school, children and adults – people of all races and ages. The expo will feature fun, food and much more!
The Community Expo will showcase Southwest's programs, services and benefits for the Mid-South community. Information will be available regarding services by Admissions and Records, Financial Aid, Dual Enrollment, Student Disabilities, the Industrial Readiness Training Program, Career Services, M.O.S.T (Men of Southwest Tennessee), Library Services, childcare, and more. Throughout the day participants can mix and mingle with students, professors, coaches, admissions counselors, financial aid officers, alumni and other members of the Southwest family.
Many graduates have said, "Southwest is family-oriented and they love coming back to visit because it's like coming home."
The event is free and open to the Mid-South community. For more information and for making group arrangements, call Southwest's Gill Center Coordinator Ronald Claxton at (901) 333-5977.
