Two Saluqi Basketball Players Selected First Team All-TCCAA
Sophomores Perrin Buford and DeVante Jones were selected first team All-Tennessee Community College Athletic Association in a vote by the conference’s coaches. In addition, sophomore Andre Brown and freshman Rasheed Brooks were named to the second team.
- Buford, a 6'7" guard from Decatur, Alabama, averaged 14.0 points per game and led the Saluqis with 3.6 assists per game. He scored in double figures in 22 of the 26 games he played and had high games of 26 points against Roane State in the Region VII Tournament, and 15 rebounds against Roane State during the regular season.
- Jones, a 5'8" guard from Chicago, Illinois, also averaged 14.0 points per game and led the team with a 78.9 free throw percentage. He scored in double-figures 17 times this season, including a game high 35 points against Cleveland State.
- Brown, a 6'6" forward from Clarksville, Tennessee, averaged 7.6 points and led the Saluqis with a 6.9 rebound average. He had high games of 19 points against Motlow State and 17 rebounds against Roane State.
- Brooks, a 6'5" guard from Mansfield, Ohio, averaged 12.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and led the team with 1.9 steals per game. He scored in double figures 19 times and had high games of 23 points against Walters State, and seven assists against Victory JV.
They led the Saluqis to an outstanding 23-4 record this season and a number 13 ranking in the final NJCAA regular season poll.
For the Southwest women, sophomore forward Tatiana Allen was voted second team All-TCCAA.
- Allen, a 5'10" forward from Germantown, Tennessee, led the Lady Saluqis with 14.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. She recorded six double-doubles (points/rebounds) during the season and had season-highs of 29 points and 15 rebounds against Wallace State.
