Freshman guard LaKyesha Stennis, the leading scorer this season for the Southwest women's basketball team, has been named honorable mention All-American by the National Junior College Athletic Association.

Stennis, who came to Southwest from Bryan Station High School in Lexington, Kentucky, averaged 16.6 points per game and also ranked among team leaders with 5.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.9 steals. She started all 26 games and scored 20 or more points seven times including a season-high 26 against Motlow State Community College. In addition, Stennis was voted first team All-Tennessee Community College Athletic Association by the conference's coaches.
