Southwest Women's Basketball Coach and Sophomore Guard to Participate in All-Star Weekend

Southwest women's Head Basketball Coach Andrea Martre and rising sophomore guard LaKyesha Stennis will participate in this weekend's NJCAA Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Weekend hosted by Northwest Florida State College in Niceville, Florida. Stennis will play in the All-Star Games on August 25-26 while Martre will coach one of the teams.
Martre, who is entering her 20th season as the Lady Saluqis' head coach, has compiled a 297-212 record. In her coaching career at Southwest, Martre has been named TCCAA Coach of the Year three times and the Region VII Coach of the Year once. In addition, she has coached 27 All-TCCAA players and seven NJCAA All-Americans.
Stennis, from Bryan Station High School in Lexington, Kentucky, was a first team All-TCCAA honoree as a freshman in 2014-15 and was also named honorable mention All-American by the NJCAA. She was the Lady Saluqis' leading scorer with a 16.6 average and also ranked among team leaders with 5.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.9 steals per game.
