Andrew Miller Gets Going Early in MLB Career as Newest Pro Saluqi

While the past Saluqi baseball season showed true competitive heart and a desire to win that propelled them further than most dreamed in the 2017 TCCAA tournament, one of the brightest spots to come from the past campaign was undoubtedly Saluqi slugger Andrew Miller.

After annihilating the previous single season home run record - which had stood for years at 12 - by hitting 18, the outfielding, catching, first-base hybrid slugger received an offer and signed with four-year college Arkansas State University. Not only did Miller hit 18 home runs this past season, he also hit five triples and posted a .748 slugging average. This realization garnered Miller attention at higher levels of baseball, and shortly after his offer from Arkansas State, he was drafted in the 25th round of the 2017 MLB draft by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.

Andrew Miller did quite well in an early assignment with the Princeton Rays, the first stop in his minor league career. He provided the Princeton with an early lead one evening in a recent Princeton Rays' Mercer Cup contest against the Bluefield Blue Jays. The first triple of his pro career brought two teammates home to break a 4-4 tie in the third inning leading to a 6-4 victory for his new squad.

It is exciting to see such a bright star, and former Saluqi do so well on a larger stage.
