Southwest Saluqi Soccer Coach Shawn Loth
Congratulations to Shawn Loth, Southwest’s new women’s soccer coach. Loth began his coaching job on June 15, 2022. He previously held the position of interim coach.
“It’s a great feeling to have the "interim" tag removed from the job title as I feel it brings a sense of stability to the program.” Loth said. “I am blessed to be given this opportunity and look forward to connecting with the local high schools and competitive players in the Memphis area to enhance our program through word-of-mouth, social media, recruiting calls, and more. Our goal is to change the culture of the program and become more committed on the field and in the classroom."
Loth began his Southwest coaching career when he was tapped to be an assistant soccer coach in 2018, and subsequently, as the interim head coach in 2021.
His journey to Southwest began with stints on the coaching staff at Rhodes College (seven years) and the University of Memphis and Christian Brothers University (two years). Since 2006, Loth has coached the Olympic Development Program. He has three coaching licenses from the United States Soccer Federation and national and advanced national diplomas from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
“All the life experiences I've had with the game of soccer will serve me well to provide the proper guidance and leadership for our young student-athletes to grow and become the best versions of themselves,” he said. “I believe Southwest offers the support any student-athlete needs to continue their career at a four-year institution.”
