Southwest Dashboards Updated for 2024-25 Academic Year

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Southwest Tennessee Community College has released updated Southwest Dashboards for the 2024-25 academic year, giving faculty and staff an interactive view of student demographics, progress and trends to help strengthen student success.

The dashboards, available in Microsoft 365’s Power BI app, detail enrollment, retention, graduation rates and more. This year’s data show that Southwest served 8,886 unduplicated students — or 13,384 duplicated — with 6,372 enrolled in Fall 2025 and 7,012 in Spring 2024. The student-faculty ratio stands at 20-to-1. Women make up 65.1% of the student body, and African American students account for 51.6%.

Part-time students represent 68.2% of enrollment, averaging nine credit hours each. More than half of students — 55.3% — are age 20 or younger, and 45.1% receive Pell Grants. The most popular programs are University Parallel (AA and AS), Business, Computer Information Technology and the Tennessee Transfer Path. Top feeder high schools include Bartlett, Cordova, Germantown, Southwind and Whitehaven.

In the last academic year, Southwest awarded 963 degrees. First-time freshman retention from Fall 2023 to Fall 2024 was 41.5%, and the three-year graduation rate for the Fall 2021 cohort was 15.5%.

New Features
The Deans and Dept Chairs – Academics suite now includes a Program Health Index, which tracks three-year enrollment averages, retention, course success and employment rates to help guide strategic improvements.

The Student Success – Strategic Enrollment Management suite features two new tools: the StudentTracker Declined Admissions dashboard, which shows whether students not admitted to Southwest enrolled elsewhere or did not enroll at all, and the Subsequent Enrollment dashboard, which tracks where Southwest students transfer, either before completing a degree or after graduation.

How to Access
Faculty and staff can log in to Microsoft 365 at office.com using their Southwest credentials, open the App Launcher (“waffle” icon), select Power BI, and navigate to the Southwest Dashboards workspace. Dashboards are organized by audience: Leadership – Senior Leadership; Deans and Dept Chairs – Academics; and Student Success – Strategic Enrollment Management.

Interactive filters allow users to view data by term, student type, major, and demographics, with options to drill down to program or ZIP code level.
