Office of the Chief of Staff

The Office of the Chief of Staff is responsible for advancing and sustaining a positive environment that supports both the letter and spirit Tennessee Board of Regents’ regulations regarding Title IX, Title IV, discrimination, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. 

The Office of the Chief of Staff serves the College by:

  • Investigating and resolving complaints of discrimination or harassment based on race, color, religion, creed, ethnic or national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, disability, age, status as a covered veteran and/or genetic information. Make a report here.
  • Monitoring the College's compliance with protected class regulations.
  • Keeping College personnel informed of their regarding protected classes.
  • Coordinating disability services for employees.

In addition, the Chief of Staff’s office is a certified Safe Space for the entire Southwest family.

As requested by the Tennessee Board of Regents, the Office of the Chief of Staff assists with enforcement of Tennessee’s Divisive Concepts law, which prohibits the inclusion of such concepts in trainings, seminars, orientations, or the like. This includes implicit bias trainings and programs. The Divisive Concepts law does not, however, infringe upon faculty’s right to Academic Freedom. Filing a Report

Pursuant to Tennessee Board of Regents Personnel Guideline, Discrimination & Harassment - Complaint & Investigation Procedure: P-080, the Office of the Chief of Staff is responsible for ensuring the prompt, thorough, and fair investigation of complaints of discrimination or harassment based on race, color, religion, creed, ethnic or national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, disability, age, status as a covered veteran and/or genetic information.
