Faculty and Staff Awards honors employees outstanding performance
Employees and their families packed the Verties Sails Gymnasium April 26 for Southwest’s annual Faculty and Staff Awards Luncheon. It was a festive affair emceed by Stan Bell, one of Memphis’ most beloved radio personalities, who brought laughter and excitement to the occasion.
Before the honorees walked the red carpet to retrieve their awards, Southwest President Tracy D. Hall highlighted the outstanding performance of faculty and staff. “Southwest is soaring thanks to all your hard work,” she said. “Our enrollment numbers are up and our College revenue is increasing.”
Hall reported that the number of students earning an Associate Degree is up 13% and that more students are moving on to 4-year institutions. Regarding the increase in revenue, Hall said the College plans to reinvest in the faculty, staff and students by onboarding new equipment, facilities renovations and professional development. “This is all a part of our Big Audacious Goal to Redesign, Reinvent, and Reset Southwest!” Hall said. “I also wish to thank our Master of Ceremonies Stan Bell for bringing fun and flair to our celebratory occasion. We are a hard-working institution, yet we know how to have fun.”
Special thanks to the Underground band for their lively entertainment and The Taste at Southwest for serving a delicious feast for everyone.
