Answers to Frequently Asked Questions regarding the Police Services/Public Safety Department are listed below. If you have additional questions, please contact us at 901-333-4242 or 901-333-5555.
A permit can be obtained from Police Services/Public Safety on either campus or from the administrative offices at any of the centers or site. To obtain a permit, you must present:
- expired permit
- fee payment receipt or complete class schedule
- current Southwest Student Identification (ID) Card
- vehicle license plate number
Note: All vehicles must display a parking permit when parked on Southwest property, per Traffic and Parking Regulations Policy 3:02:02:00/11. If your Parking/Registration Permit is lost, stolen, or damaged it may be replaced for $5, payable at the Cashier's Office.
If your vehicle was towed from Southwest property, it will be located at Carr's Towing, 206 East Pebbles, telephone number 901-345-9824. To retrieve your vehicle, you will need to take proof of ownership to Carr's.
If you were parked on the street, the tow was probably the result of a parking violation from the Memphis Police Department. To retrieve your vehicle, you will need to contact Memphis Police Department towing service located at 465 Klinke Avenue, telephone number 901-353-8200. They require that all outstanding fines are paid for and provide proof of ownership, insurance, and identification.
Copies can be obtained from the Police Services/Public Safety Department located on the Macon Cove or Union Avenue Campus. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Most requests for reports will be processed within three working days.
Note: Not all reports can be released. Reports that have on-going investigation may be delayed until investigations are complete. All student conduct reports are not made available to the public due to the Jeanne Clery Act, regulations unless the report involves a criminal charge.
