Title VI and Non-Discrimination training deadline is May 15
By Inez Warner, Director of Equity and Compliance
Congratulations to all our faculty and staff for achieving the highest completion rate of 99% to date on the 2019 mandatory Title IX training (Sexual Harassment and Misconduct)! I truly appreciate your participation.
Let’s see if we can match that success in completing Title VI and Non-Discrimination, our second (and final) mandatory course for the present academic year. All Southwest employees are required to complete this mandatory training each calendar year, per federal law.
The deadline to complete this training is May 15, 2019
In an effort to meet this requirement and as part of Southwest’s ongoing compliance efforts, the Office of Equity & Compliance partnered with Digital Learning to provide you with an online training course customized for our College through PAWS. To make this training a little more fun, we will be awarding some of our awesome E&C prizes to randomly chosen participants who complete the course by the deadline. Winners will be announced May 22.
The course consists of a series of modules and topics, plus a final assessment and should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. The course can be taken on any computer that has internet access. Click the PAWS link available in the upper right hand corner of Southwest’s website and follow the instructions below:
To access the course:
- Use your Southwest credentials (username and password) to log into PAWS at https://elearn.southwest.tn.edu/
- Scroll down to My Courses and select the “Title VI and Non-Discrimination Training” course
- Begin the course
You do not need to complete all of the training in one sitting. Once you begin the course, you may stop it and resume or review it at a later date using the same process. If you need to return to the training, you may use the bookmark feature in the program to come back to where you last were in the course.
You must pass the final assessment with a score of 70% or better. Upon conclusion, you and the Office of Equity & Compliance Office will receive an official certificate of completion. Therefore, you do not need to send their certificate to human resources.
Finally, things happen. We understand and we are here to help you. If you have questions about the training material, please contact the Office of Equity & Compliance at 901-333-5005 or via email at equityandcompliance@southwest.tn.edu.
If you cannot access PAWS or do not see the Title VI and Non-Discrimination Training in PAWS, please submit a ticket in the Remedyforce Service Desk.
