Police Services/Public Safety Department wins 2019 AACC Awards of Excellence!
Congratulations to Police Services/Public Safety Director Angela Webb and her division on receiving the American Association of Community Colleges’ 2019 Community College Safety, Planning and Leadership Award! The prestigious award recognizes exceptional work among the nation’s 1,200 two-year, associate degree-granting institutions.
This is such an amazing honor,
President Tracy D. Hall said. I am profoundly proud of Director Webb and her entire staff of talented law enforcement
professionals. Their dedication and innovation in serving and protecting our college
community has earned them this esteemed recognition, for which they are truly deserving.
I'm elated that my department is the recipient of the AACC Award of Excellence,
said Webb. It is truly an honor for my team to be recognized for their commitment to the safety
of our college. Being acknowledged as a hard working group dedicated to providing
the very best service is paramount.
Webb oversees a staff of 41 officers charged with providing a safe environment for
more than 10,000 faculty, staff and students at two main campuses and three centers.
This award is an endorsement of our strategic planning and state-of-the art training
to provide a campus free of injury and risk.
Webb received the AACC award last night at the AACC annual convention in Orlando, Florida, along with other AACC category winners. The award recognized Webb for her leadership and innovative practices in fostering a campus safety culture. Webb has engaged the Southwest community in state-of the art training from active shooter drills to sexual assault awareness, partnered with local law enforcement and adjoining communities for emergency preparedness, and launched public safety campaigns.
Congratulations, Director Webb! We are grateful for your leadership and for the exceptional work of your division in keeping our Southwest community safe!
