New members were inducted into Southwest’s
chapter of the National Society of Leadership
and Success during a virtual presentation
April 27, 2022.
Congratulations to 64 inductees of Southwest’s chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success.
Director of Student Development Phoenix Worthy welcomed the inductees as the newest members of the chapter during a virtual induction ceremony April 27, 2022.
“This is an organization that has been needed for a long time at Southwest, “ Worthy said. “The NSLS membership prepares our students' mindset for success. Being an inducted member will open a wide range of opportunities for them to be successful. NSLS helps to grow their leadership skills and to have self-confidence, self-esteem and self-efficacy,” Worthy said.
To become a member of the NSLS, students must finish the five-step leadership development program which includes:
- Chapter orientation and personality assessment
- Leadership training day including planning future goals
- Viewing speaker broadcasts on various leadership topics
- Participation in networking team meetings
- Attending chapter’s induction ceremony
During the ceremony, the chapter’s team recognized faculty and administration who exemplify and have demonstrated outstanding leadership to students in teaching and service. The honorary award recipients are:
Honorary Membership: Cory Major, Vice President of Student Affairs
Excellence in Teaching: Dr. Derrick Wheatley, Instructor, Business and Legal Studies department
Excellence in Service to Students: Dr. Thomas Cole, Assistant Director, Academic Support Center and Debra Davis, Counselor, Project M.O.S.T.
