Southwest selects Rosie Britton to spearhead recruitment and K-12 partnerships
By Gloria Riley
Congratulations to Rosie Britton, Southwest’s new associate director of Recruitment and K-12 Partnerships!
Britton began her new role on Marcy 1, 2022. She is a native Memphian and alumna of Whitehaven High School where she graduated with honors. As a first-generation student, she later went on to attend Christian Brothers University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in natural science with a concentration in visual arts, with hopes to pursue medical illustration.
“I feel blessed and humbled to be in a position that allows me to work with a great team who stronly believes in the mission of the College and enjoys reaching out to the Memphis community to share what Southwest has to offer,” Britton said. “I want to help the residents of Memphis and the surrounding areas achieve their life's goals with a quality education from Southwest."
Britton brings to Southwest outstanding skills and professional experience in student affairs that she acquired through various positions she has held. She was a mentor to student employees while serving her duties as a student personnel office assistant for the US Department of Labor- Job Corps Memphis Center for nearly five years.
In 2016, she returned to her alma mater, CBU, where she began her career in higher education, starting as a transfer and international admissions counselor. During her tenure in admissions, she facilitated freshmen, transfer, international, transient/non-degree seeking, and returning/stop-out populations. Britton also served as a mentor for both the Lasallian College (a student retention program) and the First-Generation Mentorship Program facilitated by the career services department. During her six-year stint while working her way up to associate director, she and her team celebrated two consecutive record-breaking incoming freshmen classes (Fall 2017 and Fall 2018). In Fall 2020, she played a crucial role in working with the inaugural Traditional BSN (Bachelor of Science Nursing) program which yielded the largest incoming transfer class for the institution.
Britton is currently in the final stages of earning a Masters of Science in engineering management with a concentration in quality assurance from CBU.
On a personal note, during her spare time, Britton enjoys drawing, painting, exercising, and spending time with her friends and loved ones.
