STAFF KUDOS: Southwest apprenticeship coordinator makes Forbes first Next 1000 list
Congratulations to Apprenticeship Coordinator Roshunda Buchanan on being selected for the 2021 Forbes Next 1000 list, Forbes Magazine’s newest celebration of business standouts. As a member of the inaugural class, Buchanan joins 249 other entrepreneurs the Forbes panel of some of the country’s “top business minds” regards as leaders who are redefining the American dream.
Buchanan was selected for her work as founder of the 2Unique Community Salvation Foundation and publisher and editor of 2Unique Magazine. She also created the Find Your Design Career Track & Leadership program and is the brainchild of Certified Girl Boss, a business women empowerment campaign that she says salutes the “talented, credentialed, qualified, equipped and purposeful women in our community whose mission is to mentor and guide others to lead and to spark meaningful change and progress in education and business innovation.”
As an apprenticeship coordinator in the Business and Technology Division at Southwest, Buchanan partners with employers, high schools, local community development organizations and business leaders to help students get a head-start on their careers with on-the-job training opportunities
“To be recognized for my passion for leadership and desire to leave a legacy through mentorship and investment in the next generation is an honor and truly humbling,” she said. “I am so inspired by this recognition of my life’s work and hope it demonstrates to our students that following your passion and giving back can lead to unimaginable success.”
