Southwest’s Chris Camp receives distinguished Dale P. Parnell Faculty Distinction Recognition Award
By Marketing and Communications Staff
Congratulations to Southwest’s Emergency Medical Technology Instructor Christopher
Camp on receiving the 2023 Dale P. Parnell Distinguished Faculty designation by the
American Association of Community Colleges (AACC).
The AACC’s Faculty Distinction recognition, named in honor of former AACC President
and CEO Dale P. Parnell, was established to recognize individuals making a difference
in the classroom.
“Chris is an outstanding Southwest faculty member who has positively impacted the
lives of Southwest students, as well as his colleagues and the Mid-South community,”
Southwest Tennessee Community College President Tracy D. Hall said. “His peers and
supervisors highly regard Chris and consider him a “rising star” and a “winner.” College
leaders shared their “full support” for his nomination.”
Camp’s background in the medical field goes back to 2001 when he was a volunteer paramedic
in Memphis, Tenn. Camp joined the Memphis Fire Department the following year, where
he rose through the ranks. While working, Camp obtained an associate degree in emergency
medical technology, a bachelor's degree focusing on health administration, and a master’s
degree in executive leadership. In 2016, Camp joined the Southwest team as an emergency
medical services program instructor.
“I’m truly humbled by this award,” said Camp. “The students come first with me. I
strive to always be there for them – to help them with what they need. I want them
to succeed in their chosen profession and as caring and compassionate people.”
Camp was officially presented with his award at the AACC annual conference April 1,
2023 in Denver, Colorado.
Congratulations, Chris, on this monumental achievement!
