Southwest athletics continue to rack up post-season accolades

Men’s Basketball
Congratulations to freshman Nick Woodard and sophomore Mason Matthews, who were named first team All-Tennessee Community College Athletic Association (TCCAA) in a vote by the conference's coaches.
Woodard led the Saluqis in scoring this season with an average of 18.0 points per game and was the second leading rebounder with 6.3 per game. He scored in double figures in 27 games including the last 21 games. Included are 11 games of 20+ points with a season-high of 31 points against Vincennes.
Matthews was the third leading scorer with a 12.7 average and led the team with 8.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocked shots per game. He led the Saluqis with 13 doubles-doubles and had high games of 25 points (in three straight games vs. ASU Mid-South, Dyersburg State, and Chattanooga State) and 20 rebounds against Tennessee Prep.
Women’s Basketball
Freshman CorTayza Flowers was named first team All-TCCAA while sophomore Trinity Taylor was a second team pick in a vote by the conference's coaches.
Flowers led the Lady Saluqis in scoring with 16.0 points per game and was also among the team leaders with 5.4 rebounds. She scored in double figures in 20 games including a season-high of 29 points against Chattanooga State.
Taylor was the team's second leading scorer with an 11.6 average and led the team with 5.3 assists and 2.3 steals per game. She scored in double-figures 19 times with a season-high of 18 points against Shorter. Taylor also had a near triple-double against Shorter with career-highs of 10 assists and 9 rebounds.
Men’s Baseball
The Southwest baseball is off to its best start in years with a 26-6 overall record and is ranked among the top teams in the National Junior College Athletic Association. The highest ranking is number 17 by 'The JBB' (Junior College Baseball). In addition, the Saluqis are ranked 22nd by 'DBA' (Dream Big Athletics) and 23rd by 'PBR' (Prep Baseball Report).
They are led by sophomore pitcher Colton Brumley, a two-time TCCAA Pitcher of the Week, and freshman pitcher Markell Dixon, who has received the same honor once so this season. Brumley currently has 7-1 record (leading the conference in wins) with a 2.27 earned run average (ERA) and 67 strikeouts while Dixon is 6-0 and leads the conference with a 1.69 ERA and 69 strikeouts.
Two players are batting over .400 through 32 games. They are sophomore infielder Tyler Harrington, who is batting .420 and leads the team with four home runs and 33 runs batted in, and sophomore BJ Banyon, who leads the team with a .427 average.
