The Southwest chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success welcomed 39 inductees April 25, 2023 at the Macon Cove Campus.
Phoenix Worthy, director of student development, opened the induction ceremony with a reminder to the new members of their new role as model leaders for their fellow students on campus and as representatives of the college. Keynote speaker for the event was Southwest Tennessee Community College Dean of Business and Technologies Dr. Eddie Baker.
“Being an effective leader is knowing your team is there for support. Leadership is acknowledging that you can’t do everything yourself,” Baker said. “Support helps build the best leaders.”
During the ceremony, the chapter’s team recognized faculty and administration who exemplify and have demonstrated outstanding leadership to students in teaching and service. The honorary award recipients are:
Honorary Membership: Dr. Eddie Baker, Dean of Business and Technologies
Excellence in Teaching: Dr. Emily Taylor, Assistant Professor, Nursing
Excellence in Service to Students: Edna Claxton, Testing Services Coordinator
