Congratulations to 17 Southwest students who were inducted into the College’s Upsilon Delta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) during an evening candle-lighting ceremony on April 30, 2023 at the Macon Cove Campus Farris Auditorium.
PTK Faculty Advisers, Dr. Melanie L. Jones and Douglas Branch, hosted the celebration and thanked the families and friends in attendance for supporting the inductees along their academic journey toward excellence.
PTK inductees light each other’s candles signifying the light
of knowledge.
The keynote speaker for the evening was Southwest Tennessee Community College President
Tracy D. Hall who encouraged the inductees to continue to aspire to be their best
in all they do.
“You are joining a scholar-hood of the best and brightest across the country today.
This momentous occasion recognizes your achievements inside the class and today, you
should be proud to be a member of Phi Theta Kappa,” Hall said. “The power of a student
leader exudes from the Phi Theta Kappa organization. You now have connections to networks,
career and professional development, and scholarship opportunities to help guide you
through your academic and professional careers.”
Congratulations to the newest members of PTK!
